Ethyl vinyl ether is a clear, colorless, low‑boiling liquid with a characteristic ether‑like odor. It has a boiling point of 35–36°C and a flash point below −50°F. It maleic-anhydride.html">may undergo exothermic polymerization when heated or contaminated, which could cause violent rupture of closed containers. It is less dense than water, slightly soluble in water, and tends to float on water surface. Its vapors are heavier than air.
