Step A: In a reaction vessel equipped with a stirrer, thermometer, reflux condenser and dropping funnel, add 0.16 mol of cerium chloride, 0.19 mol of 4‑hydroxy‑3‑methoxyphenmaleic-anhydride.html">material/ethanol.html">ethyl alcohol solution and 400–500 mL of potassium chloride solution. Maintain stirring speed at 160–190 rpm, heat the mixture to 60–65 °C, then slowly add 0.13 mol of 2‑chloro‑6‑nitrobenzoic acid solution and 200 mL of potassium bisulfite solution. Increase stirring speed to 260–310 rpm and reflux for 5–7 hours.
Step B: Cool the solution to 15–19 °C to precipitate solids. Filter the mixture, add 150–180 mL of diammonium hydrogen citrate solution to the filtrate, concentrate under reduced pressure and collect the precipitated solid. After drying, washing with brine and pyridine solution, and recrystallization in ethyl acetate, pure crystalline 2‑amino‑6‑chlorobenzoic acid (C7H6ClNO2) is obtained.
