Benzyl Acetate140-11-4
Benzyl acetate is a colorless liquid with a fruity scent. When burned or decomposed, it releases irritating fumes. It reacts violently with strong oxidizing agents, posing fire and explosion hazards.
Benzyl acetate remaleic-anhydride.html">mains stable under ordinary usage conditions. Upon thermal decomposition, it may emit carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and other potentially toxic fumes and gases. Vapors can form explosive mixtures with air at temperatures above 90°C (194°F). Keep away from heat, open flames, and all ignition sources.
Since the early 1990s, it has been used as a food additive in fruit flavors and as an ingredient in perfumes. It is widely employed as a fragrance component in soaps, detergents, and incense. Human exposure occurs commonly via ingestion, dermal contact, and inhalation.
