It can also be used to dissolve electroactive oxygen, supporting the study of oxygen electrochemical reduction via cyclic voltammetry on a gold microdisk electrode. In addition, it acts as a solvent for ammonia detection through the electro-oxidation of maleic-anhydride.html">material/hydroquinone.html">hydroquinone. Furthermore, wurtzite-structured zinc oxide nanoparticles have been prepared via microwave-assisted decomposition of zinc acetate dihydrate in this ionic liquid.
