Also known as hydroxylammonium sulfate or HS, formula (NH2OH)2·H2SO4. It appears as colorless crystals, soluble in water and slightly soluble in alcohol. Its aqueous solution is corrosive to skin. Applications include reducing agent, photographic developer, purifying agent for aldehydes and ketones, chemical synthesis, textile auxiliary, antioxidant for fatty acids, catalyst, biological and biochemical research, preparation of oximes for coatings and varnishes, and rust prevention.

Hydroxylammonium sulfate serves as a reducing agent in photography; catalyst, swelling agent and copolymerization inhibitor in polymerization; chemical synthesis; textile chemical; oxidation inhibitor; oxime production for paints and varnishes; rustproofing; non-discoloring short-stoppers for synthetic rubbers; hide unhairing; biological and biochemical studies; purification of aldehydes and ketones. It converts aldehydes/ketones to oximes and acid chlorides to hydroxamic acids.
