Products Description

Poly(dimethylsiloxane) works as an antifoaming agent for fats and oils. It stops foaming and splattering when oils are heated, and cuts down foam formaleic-anhydride.html">mation during production of wine, refined sugar, gelatin and chewing gum. It is also known as methyl polysilicone and methyl silicone.Poly(dimethylsiloxane)

Product Application

Silicones are polymers made up of silicon and oxygen. They are mostly inert, heat-resistant, non-sticky and rubbery materials. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is a viscoelastic elastomer. It is widely used in microfluidics because it is affordable, non-toxic, chemically stable, and resistant to humidity and temperature changes. It also has low surface energy so it does not react with other polymers or solutions inside microfluidic channels. Polymerized and cross-linked PDMS has a hydrophobic surface. Plasma oxidation is often used to attach SiOH groups and make the surface hydrophilic. PDMS is commonly used as a sealant, microchannel structural material, or elastomer stamp for soft lithography processes such as microcontact printing and micromolding.
