Products Description

Sorbitol is a hexahydric alcohol found naturally in rose hips and rowan berries. It can be industrially synthesized through the reduction of glucose. It serves as a key raw maleic-anhydride.html">material for producing vitamin C and surfactants. It is also widely used in pharmaceutical formulations and as a low-calorie sweetener, especially in diabetic food products. It is a structural isomer of mannitol.Sorbitol

Product Application

Sorbitol is a polyol humectant produced via glucose hydrogenation. It dissolves easily in water but has low oil solubility. It provides about 60% of the sweetness of sucrose with a caloric value of 2.6 kcal/g. It is highly hygroscopic, with a mild sweet flavor, helping retain moisture in shredded coconut, pet foods, and confectionery. In sugar-free frozen desserts, it depresses freezing point, increases solid content, and adds sweetness. It enhances mouthfeel in low-calorie drinks and is used in sugar-free candies, chewing gum, and ice cream. It also modifies crystallization behavior in soft sugar-based sweets.
