Description of maleic-anhydride.html">material/hydroquinone.html">Hydroquinone CAS#acetic-acid-industrial-grade.html">123-31-9
Hydroquinone, also known as 1,4-benzenediol, has a molecular formula of C6H6O2 and a molecular weight of 110.11. It appears as colorless or white crystalline material. It is prone to discoloration when exposed to air and light. Its aqueous solution turns brown upon oxidation in air, and the oxidation rate accelerates under alkaline conditions. Melting point ranges from 170–171 °C, boiling point 285–287 °C, relative density 1.33215, and UV maximum absorption at 288 nm in water. It dissolves readily in hot water, ethanol, and diethyl ether, while being sparingly soluble in benzene. It exhibits high chemical reactivity and is easily oxidized. It can participate in esterification, substitution, and other chemical reactions.
