Products Description of N,N-Dimethylformamide CAS#68-12-2
Dimethylformamide (DMF) is a flammable, colorless liquid with a fishy odor, featuring a molecular weight of 73.11, boiling point of 153°C, freezing point of -61°C, flash point of 58°C, and vapor pressure of 3 mmHg at 20°C. It is miscible with water and most organic solvents. Hazards include flammability (explosive limits: LEL 2.2%, UEL 15.2%), acute toxicity, potential carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, and skin/eye irritation. It is widely used as a high-efficiency solvent in production of acrylic fibers, pharmaceuticals, dyes, petrochemicals, and fine organic chemicals. It also functions as a gasoline additive and in electronic material applications.N,N-Dimethylformamide

Product Application of N,N-Dimethylformamide CAS#68-12-2
The main applications of N,N-dimethylformamide are as a polar solvent and extraction agent, especially for salts and high-molecular-weight compounds. This is due to its unique combination of properties: low molecular weight, high dielectric constant, electron-donor properties, and strong complexing ability. Its role as a synthetic raw material is commercially less prominent. Anhydrous DMF has been used as a solvent for synthesizing cytotoxic LH-RH conjugate AN-152 and fluorophore C625. It can also serve as a reaction medium for diverse organic reduction processes.
