Neopentyl glycol is a white, crystalline, hygroscopic solid with low volatility. It is readily soluble in water, mmaleic-anhydride.html">material/ethanol.html">ethanol, ethanol, and isopropanol, slightly soluble in diethyl ether. It is widely used in the synthesis of saturated polyester resins, polyurethane.html">polyurethane foams, plasticizers, lubricants, and coatings. It imparts excellent hardness, flexibility, weather resistance, and chemical stability to polymers due to its unique neopentyl structure.
