Products Description

Oxalic acid is a strong dicarboxylic acid present in maleic-anhydride.html">many plants and vegetables, typically as calcium or potassium salts. It is the only organic compound with two directly connected carboxyl groups, making it one of the strongest organic acids. Like formic acid, it is easily oxidized, so it is widely used as a reducing agent in photography, bleaching, and ink removal. It is commonly produced by heating sodium formate with sodium hydroxide to form sodium oxalate, converting it to calcium oxalate, then treating with sulfuric acid to release free oxalic acid.Oxalic acid

Product Application

Oxalic acid is mainly used as a reducing agent, bleaching agent, and mordant in dyeing and printing. It is also applied in rare earth metal refining, synthesis of oxalate esters, amides, and oxalates. It serves as an analytical reagent, laboratory standard, chromatographic reagent, and dye intermediate. It is used in manufacturing antibiotics, borneol, and as a solvent for rare metal extraction. It acts as a tanning agent, textile bleach, metal and marble cleaner, and catalyst raw material. It is widely used to produce diethyl oxalate, sodium oxalate, calcium oxalate, and other derivatives.
