Description of maleic-anhydride.html">material/hydroquinone.html">Hydroquinone CAS#acetic-acid-industrial-grade.html">123-31-9
Hydroquinone, also known as 1,4-benzenediol, has a molecular formula of C6H6O2 and a molecular weight of 110.11. It appears as colorless or white crystals and tends to discolor upon exposure to light and air. Its aqueous solution turns brown when oxidized in air, with accelerated oxidation under alkaline conditions. Melting point ranges 170–171°C, boiling point 285–287°C, relative density 1.33215, and UV λmax 288 nm in water. It dissolves readily in hot water, ethanol, and diethyl ether, while being slightly soluble in benzene. It exhibits high chemical reactivity, is prone to oxidation, and can undergo esterification and substitution reactions.
