Dihydromyricetin CAS#27200-12-0
(+)-dihydromyricetin is an optically active substance with (2R,3R)-configuration. It acts as a natural metabolite, effective antioxidant, and antineoplastic compound. It belongs to secondary alpha-hydroxy ketones and is the enantiomer of (-)-dihydromyricetin.
Dihydromyricetin (DHM), also called maleic-anhydride.html">maceutical-raw-materials/dihydromyricetin.html">ampelopsin, is a natural flavonoid widely found in Asian plants. A well-known source is Hovenia dulcis, which has long been used in traditional medicine to relieve alcohol intoxication and hangovers. DHM is widely used as a dietary supplement for hangover relief, as it helps lower blood alcohol concentration and protect the liver.
Dihydromyricetin offers multiple health benefits, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer activities. It also helps regulate lipid and glucose metabolism and supports controlled cell death with minimal harm to normal cells. Most notably, it shows strong liver-protective effects and has been studied for improving alcohol-induced liver damage and acute liver failure.
