HARRINGTONINE CAS#26833-85-2
Harringtonine is a naturally occurring alkaloid that suppresses protein synthesis at low micromolar levels. It freezes ribosomes right after translation starts. Although harringtonine has been studied for anticancer potential, its analog homoharringtonine shows stronger activity, especially against chronic myelogenous leukemia. The ribosome-stabilizing effect of harringtonine can be used to isolate ribosome-protected mRNA fragments for translation analysis.
