Products Description

Isopropanol, commonly called isopropyl alcohol, is the simplest secondary alcohol and an isomer of n-propanol. It is a colorless, flammable liquid with a strong odor similar to a blend of ethanol and acetone. It dissolves in water, ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform, and most organic solvents, and forms an azeotrope with water. Key physical properties include density 0.7863 g/cm³, melting point -88.5 ℃, boiling point 82.5 ℃, flash point 11.7 ℃, ignition point 460 ℃, and refractive index 1.3772. Its vapor may irritate eyes, nose, and throat, and it can be absorbed through the skin. Vapors form explosive mixtures with air with an explosion range of 2.0%–12% by volume. It is a flammable, low-toxicity material with moderate explosion hazard; vapor toxicity is twice that of ethanol, while oral toxicity is lower than ethanol.Isopropyl alcohol

Product Application

Isopropyl alcohol is a vital chemical product and raw material widely used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, fragrances, and paints. It serves as a dehydrating and cleaning agent in the electronics industry, and as an analytical reagent for detecting barium, calcium, magnesium, nickel, potassium, sodium, and strontium. It is also used as a chromatographic reference standard.
