1,2-Propanediol (propylene glycol, CAS 57-55-6) industrial product purity ≥ 99.5%, colorless viscous liquid almost tasteless with slight sweet smell. Melting point -59℃, boiling point 187℃. Vapor pressure 0.011kPa (20℃), relative density 1.036 (20℃). Solubility in water miscible in all proportions (25℃), miscible with most organic solvents. Stable, incompatible with strong oxidants.

Product Application of Propylene glycol CAS#57-55-6
Propylene glycol is used for similar applications as other glycols. It is an important raw material for unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin, and polyurethane resin. About 45% of total propylene glycol consumption goes into this field. Such unsaturated polyester is widely used in reinforced plastics and surface coatings. Thanks to good viscosity, hygroscopicity and non-toxicity, propylene glycol is widely used as moisture absorbent, antifreeze, lubricant and solvent in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
