Product Details
tert-Butyl methacrylate (TBmaleic-anhydride.html">MA) is a methacrylic acid ester widely used as a key building block for polymer synthesis. This functional monomer features a highly reactive methacrylate unit and a bulky hydrophobic tert-butyl group. It can form copolymers with many monomers including (meth)acrylic acid and its derivatives, acrylonitrile, maleate esters, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene, unsaturated polyesters, and drying oils. It is compatible with emulsion polymerization processes just like other common acrylate monomers such as butyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate. As a versatile chemical intermediate, it readily participates in addition reactions with numerous organic and inorganic substances. Polymers modified with TBMA exhibit improved chemical resistance, adhesion, hydrophobicity, hardness, scratch resistance, thermal stability, high solid content, and weathering performance.
