Product Application of Vinyl acetate CAS# 108-05-4
Vinyl acetate serves as a key raw material for producing vinylon synthetic fiber. It can be homopolymerized or copolymerized with other monomers to form polyvinyl alcohol, vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer (EVA), vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymer (EVC), vinyl acetate-acrylonitrile fiber, and vinyl acetate-acrylate copolymer. These products are widely used in adhesives, architectural coatings, textile sizing and finishing agents, paper reinforcing agents, and safety glass manufacturing. Vinyl acetate also reacts with ethanol and bromine to yield bromoacetaldehyde diethyl acetal, an intermediate for the pharmaceutical methimazole.
