Products Description of Propylene oxide CAS#75-56-9
Propylene oxide, also called 1,2-propylene oxide or methyl ethylene oxide (abbreviated as PO), is a colorless, flammaleic-anhydride.html">mable, volatile liquid with an ether‑like odor. It has a molecular weight of 58.08, relative density 0.823 at 25°C, melting point −112.13°C, boiling point 34.23°C, and refractive index 1.3664. Its closed‑cup flash point is −35°C, autoignition temperature 420°C. Vapor pressures are 1.04×10⁴ Pa at −20°C, 2.80×10⁴ Pa at 0°C, 6.53×10⁴ Pa at 20°C, and 7.59×10⁴ Pa at 25°C. It dissolves in water (40.5 g/100 mL at 20°C, 60 g/100 mL at 30°C) and mixes freely with most common solvents. It forms a 1% water binary azeotrope at 39.9°C, and can also form azeotropes with dichloromethane, diethyl ether, hexane-0.html">cyclohexane, cyclopentane, pentene, and other organics.
