Products Description of Trichloroethylene CAS# 79-01-6

Full Physical & Chemical Property Description

Trichloroethylene (abbreviated as TCE) is a powerful dissolving solvent with high volatility. It shows slight solubility in water while being fully miscible with ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone and other mainstream organic solvents. The product is non-flammable under regular room temperature and atmospheric pressure.

Key physical and chemical indicators:

  • Melting Point: -84 ~ -87°C
  • Boiling Point: 85.9 ~ 88°C
  • Relative Density (20°C): 1.465 g/cm³ (denser than water)
  • Vapor Pressure (20°C): 78.7–86 hPa
  • Water solubility: 1.0–2.85 g/L at 25°C
  • Stability: Maintains stable performance under sealed, shaded storage; will undergo photo-oxidation under direct sunlight to produce phosgene without stabilizers; chemically incompatible with strong alkalis and active metals
  • Product merits: Medium boiling point, high vapor pressure, strong grease dissolution capacity, good adaptability to industrial gas scrubbing processes
