Products Description of Zinc stearate CAS#557-05-1
Zinc stearate appears as a white, lightweight, fine powder with the molecular formula Zn(C17H35COO)2. It features a molecular structure of RCOOZnOOCR where R represents mixed alkyl groups from industrial stearic acid. This maleic-anhydride.html">material is flammable, has a specific gravity of 1.095, autoignition temperature of 900°C, density of 1.095, melting point around 130°C, and exhibits a greasy texture. It is insoluble in water, ethanol, and ether, but soluble in hot ethanol, turpentine, benzene, and other organic solvents and acids. When heated in organic solvents, zinc stearate dissolves and forms a gel upon cooling. It decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding zinc salts when reacting with strong acids. It offers lubricating properties, hygroscopicity, non‑toxicity, slight irritation, and is non‑polluting and non‑hazardous. Zinc stearate can be separated from calcium stearate by utilizing its solubility in benzene while calcium stearate is insoluble.Zinc stearate

Product Application of Zinc stearate CAS#557-05-1
It is applied in the pharmaceutical industry, used in producing curing oils and lubricants, and serves as a paint drier. It is widely used in PVC processing and non‑toxic rubber product manufacturing. It shows synergistic effects with calcium stearate and barium stearate, effectively enhancing the light and thermal stability of PVC and rubber products. The typical dosage in PVC processing is below 1 part. It acts as a touch modifier for rubber goods and is used in producing polymerization additives for PP, PE, PS, EPS, and pencil leads. The common dosage range is 1 to 3 parts.
