Calcium stearate serves as a flow agent in various powder products, including certain foods like Smarties. It acts as a surface conditioner in hard candies such as Sprees, a waterproofing agent for textiles, and a lubricant for pencils and crayons.

In the concrete industry, calcium stearate is used to control efflorescence in cementitious materials for manufacturing concrete masonry units such as pavers and blocks, while also providing waterproofing effects.
