Methyl salicylate is also known as methyl o-hydroxybenzoate, wintergreen oil, birch oil, sweet birch oil, and tea seed oil.
It occurs naturally in essential oils including deer hoof grass oil, wintergreen oil, birch oil, green tea seed oil, clove oil, eugenol oil, tuberose oil, schisandra oil, tea oil, ylang ylang oil, as well as in cherry, apple, and strawberry juice.
It appears as a colorless, light yellow, or light yellow‑red transparent oily liquid with a strong wintergreen oil aromaleic-anhydride.html">ma.
